The Christian Investment Forum held its 4th BRI Workshop 2017 as a pre-conference event at the Kingdom Advisors Conference. It was another terrific morning of thought provoking content and conversation.
The workshop started with a short introduction of the mission of Christian Investment Forum, and some updates on initiatives underway. This included the 2016 Survey of Advisors on Faith-based Investing, or BRI. Compared to the 2013 Survey, there was a strong growth in all three key areas – Awareness, Knowledge and Use. The full report on the survey will come out soon, so please check back or sign-up to get updates and announcements.
The Christian Investment Summit was also announced. Set to be held on August 16th – 18th this year, at the Billy Graham Training Center near Asheville, NC, the Summit will allow the audience to dig much more deeply into the issues and opportunities within Kingdom Impact Investing. The theme for the Summit – INVESTING WITH EXCELLENCE, ADVANCING THE KINGDOM.
The website is now open for more information or to register at: www.cifsummit.org
Session 1 – Why We Do What We Do?
Following the introduction, Ms. Victoria Cobb provided a compelling story of the reasons why our investing is important, and why we should not simply see our investing as a financial return decision. Rather our investing can have impact, and she highlighted some important opportunities where we can have impact with our investing. Ms. Cobb is the President of the Family Foundation of Virginia.
Session 2 – How We Do BRI?
The 2nd session of the morning brought together three Kingdom Advisors who talked about their own experiences with clients as they introduced BRI to their clients. Dan Hardt, Rachel McDonough, and Loran Graham gave powerful testimonies, and compelling success stories for their adoption of Faith-based Investing in their practices.
Session 3 – If Not Us, Who? If Not Now, When?
The BRI Pre-Conference Workshop concluded with remarks from Mr. Buck Jacobs. Buck is the founder and Chairman of C12 Group, a Christian consulting organization. Buck’s talk on Business as Mission and Whole Life Discipleship was a terrific conclusion to the workshop. A similar version of his talk is available here from a recent conference at which he spoke.
